Bords or "Llorcs" joined the Marines after graduation. He saw actions in Jolo and Siasi, Sulu. One sad weekend in 1960 while on duty as Officer of the Day in the Marine Compound in Port Area, Manila, one of his men ran amuck, an aftermath of the horrors of combat. He quickly responded. As he approached towards the barracks where the amok barricaded himself, the amok aimed and fired at his holstered 45. The bullet ricocheted and shattered his large femoral vein. He was rushed to the hospital. Wife Mercy was at his bedside when he passed away. His last words to his pregnant wife were, " Pass that Medical Board exam." She passed. Now Mercy cures the sick and saves lives. Their son Bords, Jr. PMA'83, carries on and protects lives. |
