Johnny or "Cortz" says what he means. As a bridge player and a good one, he calls a spade, a spade. Early on in his Naval career he'd established his frank, no non-sense reputation. Once in a Commander's Conference, an old Senior Fogey blurted to young Cortz a "challenging" rhetorical question, "Who are you to question my decision?"  Unexpectedly, young Cortz stood up and said, " I am Ensign Juanito G Cortez," paused, "Sir".  The old fogey nearly collapsed. Johnny commanded the Phil. Fleet, the SOUTHCOM, and the Naval training Command. Now he is happy playing bridge and relishing the love of his family: Wife Lita; children: Jojo, Dr. Mario, Jerry, Marivic, and their families.
