February 17, 2010 “THE EDSA 1986 VETERANS SUPPORT SEN “NOYNOY” AQUINO IN HIS PRESIDENCY OF TRUE PEOPLE EMPOWERMENT” We speak for the Legions of retired and still active AFP/PNP officers and soldiers who joined the late President Cory Aquino and the Filipino people in the EDSA 1986 Revolution which toppled the oppressive Marcos regime. Many of us in recent years again followed our ailing President Cory Aquino in her crusade to change a more oppressive, corrupt regime and unite the Filipino people in a fight for true reforms in ourselves, in our institutions and in our national character. Our beloved President Cory is now in heaven but the torch of this crusade is now passed to her son, Senator “Noynoy” Aquino who is seeking the Presidency in 2010 to affect the true reforms that all Filipinos are longing for. We believe that Senator Noynoy has the strength of character, the moral uprightness and the selfless love for the Filipino people to lead and unite all Filipinos in this crucial struggle for survival against the forces of evil and return dignity and honor to the public service. We also believe that Senator Benigno Aquino III has the courage and the unswerving determination to dislodge the well entrenched vested interest groups in our country now controlling our political leadership and return real political power to the Filipino people. We appeal to our comrades still serving in the AFP/PNP to join us in this crusade for reforms by remaining true to the Constitution and resist the pressure of the present cabal of political leaders and vested interests to frustrate the people’s will in the 2010 elections by use of guns, gold and naked abuse of political power. We also appeal to the COMELEC, to the Department of Education teachers and to the Department of Justice officials to give political power back to the people by ensuring the coming 2010 elections to be honest, peaceful and orderly. We must not fail for this is our last chance for democratic and peaceful change. (SIGNED) MAJ. GENERAL RAMON E. MONTAÑO AFP (RET) August 17, 2006

April 17, 2004 TODAY, FORTY-SIX YEARS AGO IN BORROMEO FIELD WE HAD OUR LAST PARADE, SHED OUR ELEGANT FULL DRESS GRAY, STUFFED ALL OUR CADET UNIFORMS IN DUFFEL BAGS AND WENT DOWN FROM LOAKAN TO SCATTER ALL OVER THE COUNTRYSIDE IN DRAB AFP UNIFORMS SERVING OUR COUNTRY AND PEOPLE. MANY OF US HAD FALLEN ALONG THE WAY BUT THOSE WHO ARE LEFT BEHIND WITH OUR AGING BUT STILL LOVELY KAYDET GIRLS ARE RICH WITH THE MEMORIES OF OUR SERVICE TOGETHER DURING THOSE TUMULTUOUS EVENTS OF OUR NATION'S HISTORY WHEN WE BONDED CLOSER THAN BROTHERS TO DEFEAT THE EVIL FORCES OF VIOLENCE AND DISORDER THAT THREATENED OUR COUNTRY AND PEOPLE. RIGHTFULLY ALL OF US SHOULD LOOK BACK TO THOSE YEARS WITH PRIDE. LET US HAVE A SILENT PRAYER FOR OUR FALLEN CLASSMATES. (See MEMORIAL page) |

The Class did not join the
PMAAA Homecoming because our CG's ( Caregivers AKA wives) . . . . {As usual their decisions prevailed}. . Anyway, Max
represented us in all activities including the dinner hosted by Golden Jubliarians Class 55, our Firsties way back in the summer of 1954
when. . . all we care was how to hide from Bravo yearlings
and all we hear in our barracks were the mournful songs
of Alcordo, the murmurs of Llorca as he writes his daily letters to
Mercy, the . . . cackle of Meneses...and of course
we savor the scent of the pines and the fragrance of virgin
coconut oil in the hair of the (Benguet Lilies)!!! Max
said our Firsties looked so old...I saw one of them... Luis
Amigo who just came from the US. I did not recognize him
since the last time I saw him was when we were plebes and he
ordered me something (four hundred?) which I forgot. He.. He...He...I
will send (for our website) pic of Max marching behind our Class banner
all by his lonesome self with the Class of '57 nowhere in sight...
Our own Golden Jubilee is
fast approaching and up to now we don't have any materials for Our
Silver Sword which is birthing to be our Golden Sword. Every month
during our Class meetings, we just go on yakking about it with out any
action. Our classmates are more interested talking about
their old age symptoms rather than writing their memoirs which we
intend to capsulize in 4 pages from our early years as Lts, through the
up and down years of command and then to oblivion as retired
denizens of the golf courses and the watering holes of military camps,
always reminding everyone that our generation were players in the
crucial years of our nation's history.
I think we should be serious
in putting these golden memories in our golden book. Many of our
classmates are gone ... their stories untold and unwritten.
Well, Gentlemen, let us all draft those
memoirs. MAKAFAST !
